Isn't it annoying when you want to check your Facebook or MySpace but you are at school and hit a big giant Websense blocker? Well, if you are stuck in a library or somewhere else where there are filters on your surf-ability, check out this tutorial for a useful hack.
In this video, you will learn how to use a proxy server to bypass parental filters like WebSense and access sites like YouTube or Twitter. There are two different ways to bypass these blockers.
Start with the following two steps, no matter where you are:
Download a Firefox web browser from Mozilla.
Open Firefox and download "SwitchProxy" by going to Tools->Add-ons->Get Extensions.
Method one: Private computers
If your parents have a filter on your home PC:
Follow the above steps and then continue with the following:
Go to www.freshproxy.org and write down the latest proxy server in the latest listing (IP:IP:IP:IP:PORT).
Method two: Public computers
Use these steps if you are at school, a library or your workplace:
Follow steps 1 & 2 and then continue with the following:
In the SwitchProxy add-on, create a new proxy preset by clicking "New"->"Anonymous Proxy".
In the resulting dialog box, enter anything as your "proxy label".
Fill in "IP address" and "Port Box" with that of your computer.
Enter "9999" where it says "Change proxy server every _____ seconds"
In the Switchproxy add-on, select your new proxy preset from the drop-down menu and click "Apply". Done!
