In this video i will be showing you guys on how to a cool gmail notifier for ubuntu linux!
There is no doubt that Gmail is the fastest growing email service at the moment and million of users are using it. If you have logged in to Google Talk then it notifies you when a new email arrives, but what if you are on Linux and you are having no luck with Google Talk? Then Popper-email notifier is just the right thing for you.
this video I'll show you an application i've been using for a little while now called Popper Email Notifier. This Email application is great and was made with Linux more specifically ubuntu/deb O.S in mind. I recommend this application to anyone who uses an active gmail/any other email account.Popper-Email Notifier reads the new emails from POP3 and IMAP email servers and notifies about the number, subject, sender and time of new emails in the indicator applet and via a notification bubble.
Here are the steps you goto follow:
Visit https://launchpad.net/popper
Download Popper_027.deb file
Goto the location where the file is downloaded,then open it up with ubuntu software center and then install it.
Now,lets upgrade it to the latest version,Goto Synaptic package manager.
In quick filter,search for the word Popper.
Then once the result appears click on the "Popper"(usually the 1st item)
Goto Settings,Repositries,select the "Other Softwares" Tab
click Add,then goto the same link(https://launchpad.net/popper) and click on the latest popper version that is available(in this case its Popper_029.readme file)
Once clicked on the Popper_029.readme file,copy the location(PPA)
Paste the location(PPA) to the APT Line,then Add source
Click on Reload Button,Then right click on popper,and MARK FOR UPGRADE,Then apply.Thats it! Thanks for watching the Video
