Making a website is very simple when you use WordPress. WordPress is an open source CMS powered by PHP and MySQL. Even though it is mainly used for blog publishing, a WordPress site can be turned into any type of website you want in just a few minutes. Please the written tutorial below the video for a faster way to setup your WordPress site

There are so many reasons to why you should use WordPress, that it would be overwhelming if I listed them all. But to name a few would be how easy it is to make a professional  looking blog  or website, its simple to update the site, and Google loves to rank WordPress sites on its search engines.

The hardest part of making a website with WordPress is buying a website hosting account, which isn't hard at all. Once you setup your hosting account you'll just need to a few simple things and your WordPress site will be ready for visitors.

Step by Step Guide

Buy Hosting

If you haven't done this already, purchase a website hosting account. There are a lot of different hosting companies so it may get overwhelming when trying to pick a host provider. I recommend using WebHostingHub.com because for $3.95/month you get a free domain name (.com, .net, .org, etc.) with your purchase and you'll get free $75 advertising credits to Google Adwords, and Microsoft Adcenter in addition to other benefits such as free trials. Once you sign up for a hosting account you will receive emails with important information from your hosting provider. Read and retrieve your login details to your cPanel, which is the control panel of your hosting account. If you do not see your log on credentials, contact your hosting provider's support team.

Install Wordpress

Log on to your the cPanel of your hosting account. Look for a button that says "Install WordPress". If you don't have this button look for a button called "Fantastico". If you have the "Install WordPress" button you can go on to the next step. For the rest of you, you should be taken to a page with a list of different CMS programs. Look for WordPress and click it, then proceed to the next step.

Setup WordPress

To make this easy to follow this step will use bullet points

  • Set "Install on domain" to the domain you want.
  • Leave "Install in directory" blank unless you know what you are doing.
  • Fill in a username and password you will remember in the "Admin access data" section
  • "Base configuration" section is optional but is recommended you fill it out.

Once you finished, click "install wordpress" and follow the rest of the instructions. You'll be provided with a link that will allow you to log onto your site. Bookmark it or memorize it. It should look like this example.com/wp-admin.

Install a Theme

Another reason why millions of people love WordPress is the fact you can make a great looking website without needing to know code or programming. If you want a premade website design to put on your new site, visit Elegantthemes.com. They have a great selection of themes you can buy at affordable prices. They will give you instructions on how to install the theme but for those who have a free theme they want to install, simply go to the WordPress dashboard and navigate to Appearance>Themes>Install Themes(Its a tab)>Upload. Upload the .zip folder of the theme and follow the instructions WordPress gives you.
