How to Put a Website on Your Desktop

Have you ever wanted to click on a shortcut on your desktop to open a webpage, instead of typing in the web address? Here's how.

Go to the website you want to put on your desktop.

Highlight the web address.

Right-click and click "Copy" (or press + ).

Go to your desktop.

Right-click on the desktop and scroll over "New".

Then click on "Shortcut".

A wizard will come up.

Where it says "Type in the location of the item:" right-click and click on "Paste" (or type + ).

Click on "Next-->".

Where it says "Type in the name of the item:" Put in what you want the shortcut to say. i.e. WikiHow.

Click on "Finish".

Alternate Method

Go the website.

Go to the far side.

Right click.

Click on create shortcut.

A window will pop up.

It will say "a shortcut has been added to you desktop".

Tips

  • Make sure you have the "http://" in the web address.
  • If you don't have the page open, an icon may not be on the shortcut.

Warnings

  • This may open the website up over an already open one.
