For those of us living in any of the 49 states other than New York on Thanksgiving Day, checking out the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade at New York is more a dream than reality. While the parade airs every Thanksgiving on television, it's also possible to catch the festivities online.
Take a look at this video to learn when and where to catch the parade if you're surfing the web and don't want to turn on the TV (or don't have a TV).
If you can't make it to New York City to view the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in person this year, why not watch it online? Each year, NBC broadcasts the big parade on television. In recent years, the Macy's parade can be viewed live on the Internet as well. Watching the parade online via a streaming webcam may allow you to get the full experience of the parade without commercial interruption and commentary.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade may be streamed online this year by the EarthCam website. The site provided free streaming of the parades in both 2008 and 2009. Recordings of past webcam parade streams can be viewed on the site. In 2009, EarthCam offered multiple camera views of the parade as it arrived in Times Square.
To watch the parade online, you'll need to be sure your Internet connection is up to speed. Check to be sure you have the proper updates for your computer video software, and do this well in advance of Thanksgiving Day - that way, you can log on, kick back and, while the turkey cooks, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with ease.
